Duanel Jones, the Dominican shortstop whose contract was recently voided by the San Francisco Giants, was one of two players received 50-game suspensions on Friday by Major League Baseball for drug violations. Jones and Florida Minor League first baseman Adam Kam received the suspensions for violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Kam, currently on the roster of the Gulf Coast Marlins, will have his suspension begin at the start of the 2010 season. Jones' suspension will become effective when he signs with another Major League organization. The Giants had voided his contract earlier this week. It seems that there is no opportunity for Jones to put on giants jersey again.
